J .L. "Chip" Crain has 33 years of experience in Financial Planning. He started his career at Smith Barney in June of 1994 and worked his way up to Sales Manager at the Atlanta Perimeter Branch before requesting to return to Memphis to continue his private practice.
Chip attended Southern Methodist University, the University of Memphis with degrees in Finance and Political Science with minors in Philosophy and Journalism. Chip received the Advanced degree in Financial Planning in 2001 and served on the board of the Financial Planning Association of Greater Memphis for over his 12 years of service (twice serving as President and twice as Chairman of the board).
Chip is a lifelong Memphian but has worked and lived in numerous cities including Atlanta, Chattanooga, Dallas, Milwaukee, Orlando and Washington DC. Chip is married to another lifelong Memphian Amy Hipp Crain and has four children: Rachel, Drew, Amelia and Sophia. He is passionate about the Memphis Grizzlies and San Francisco 49ers but his true love is soccer and never misses the USA National team play.
